Welcome to my blog. I call myself a resource teacher at Tiogue Elementary; however, I am a learner as much as I am a teacher. This year I service 2nd and 4th grade teachers for the first time. I am finding it benificial to have taught 1st, 3rd, and 5th previously. I am very excited to be taking my first "completely on-line class". I enjoy being resourceful and sharing what I've learned to others. Last year I created my first web quest to support comprehension around issues in a book that my 5th graders were reading The Big Lie. They loved the independence which was very exciting. Two years prior to that I created a web site for my school http://schools.coventryschools.net/tiogue/ and classroom http://faculty.coventryschools.net/contijanet/. Thankfully, since then, a PTA member has taken over updating the school site. I have not updated my classroom page this year at all.
In this class I hope to continue finding ways to use technology to support my students and continue to develope professionally. I've found that there is aways someting new and benificial to learn. When I teach others what I've learned, I become more proficient and deepen my understanding. I look forward to meeting each of my classmates. On a personal level, I am a mother of two teenage boys in Warwick RI. This weekend I will be getting married to a wonderful man named Mike.
